Postcards #55 – #59: The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Norway and Ukraine

This postcard is from Mieke in The Netherlands. She works as a bereavement therapist for children. Sounds like a really fulfilling job! I hope she does lots of good work. I never knew there were therapists which concentrated on such specific fields. This second card is really interesting. I tried to message the sender to ask more about the coat of arms on the card but they have replied. If anyone can clarify, I’ll update this post accordingly. From my brief Googling, I learnt that these are coat of arms of different regions in the Czech Republic. The card is … Continue reading Postcards #55 – #59: The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Norway and Ukraine

Postcard #51 – #54: Russia

I received this postcard with a really interesting shape a while ago. Don’t you think it looks weird? The edges kinda look like a stamp. I guess it’s fitting since it’s somewhat spiky like a cactus. The sender, Marina, writes that she wishes me ‘fresh ideas, easy solutions and inspiring trips.’ How nice! This postcard is from a 7-year-old in Moscow called Artem. Pretty cool! He writes hello in Russian but I couldn’t read it until I realised that in this game that I play called Overwatch, my favourite character says it out loud. 😀 привет (pree-vee-et) That, and I had to … Continue reading Postcard #51 – #54: Russia

Postcard #50: Australia

Postcard #50 is a special one to me because it was sent by one of my good friends who is currently living in Melbourne, Australia! It’s really good to hear from her. She even put some cute little illustrations on the back. Sometimes I forget how expensive it is to send postcards from other countries in the world. (In Singapore it’s only $0.60 per card.) She suggested I should watch Rick and Morty. WAY AHEAD OF YOU! I love that show as well! We’re gonna have so much to talk about when we meet again in person. I should send her … Continue reading Postcard #50: Australia

Postcards #44 – #49: USA

One of my favourite cards that I’ve received from the US so far is this die-cut wolf card from Great Wolf Lodge. You don’t get many cards in shapes other than rectangles! The send was from Massachusets. This next card features an Elk from the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The sender mentioned that they saw these cute little animals called Pikas and Marmots. How I wish I get to see them in person one day! I wouldn’t mind seeing a real live Elk as well.  One of the few Anime cards I’ve ever received and it came with … Continue reading Postcards #44 – #49: USA

Postcards#38 – #43: Germany

A lovely postcard showing the sights in a little village in Germany. It’s not something I’ve ever seen in real life before. I would love to visit one day! I had also mentioned on my Postcrossing account that I like Pokemon and this is the first Pokemon postcard that I received! The three pokemon on the bottom are called Totodile, Elekid and Hoot Hoot. Totodile is my favourite of course. The poor kittycat on the card looks absolutely mortified! I THINK the caption on the card says ‘It wasn’t me!’ or ‘I didn’t do it!” something along those lines. I’m just … Continue reading Postcards#38 – #43: Germany

Postcard: #36 & #37 New Zealand

This postcard I received from New Zealand is amazing. It was sent by Sir Gordon Drummond, a cat, self-proclaimed Terroriser of FATDOGS. This is what it said on the back of the card: Meow, My name is Gordon, you may call me “Gordon the Great”. I am a cat and I am forced against my will to live with a FATDOG. I don’t like the FATDOG and I’m gonna ‘get’ the FATDOG one day. I was here first and lately…. I have seen FATDOG on the BED!!!!! I need your advice on how to dispose of FATDOG. He needs to … Continue reading Postcard: #36 & #37 New Zealand

Postcards: #34 & #35 Suomi-Finland

An illustrated fox postcard from Finland! She complimented the necklaces that I used to make and sell online. (I might consider starting that shop up again!) The sender mentioned that she’s retired teacher and seems to be living life to the fullest by indulging all sorts of hobbies like reading and painting. The second postcard shows the Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights in the night sky. I really hope that one day I’ll be able to see such sights. I heard from a pilot that they see the lights in the sky very often while flying planes! Continue reading Postcards: #34 & #35 Suomi-Finland

Postcards #32 & #33: Belarus

It just so happens that both the postcards I received From Belarus were from the same recipe series. Although I haven’t tried the recipes on the cards, they both sound really good. I love cheese and potatoes… I’ll type the recipes here in case they’re too hard to read. Babka (Potato Pie) Ingredients 10 potatoes, 1 egg, 1 onion 2-4 strips of bacon cut into lardons sour cream, butter 1/2 tbsp. salt, 1/4 tbsp. pepper Instructions Fry cut tenderloin Fry lardons until golden and crispy and drain on a paper towel Fry chopped onion seasoned with salt until slightly golden … Continue reading Postcards #32 & #33: Belarus

Postcards #30 & #31: Australia

I received two cards from Australia. One from Sydney. I’m not quite sure where the other one is from! It doesn’t say on the back and the sender didn’t state it. I think these are the only two Maxi cards that I’ve received so far!  In philately a maximum card (also known as a maxi–card, or maxicard) is a postcard with a postage stamp placed on the picture side of the card where the stamp and cardmatch or are in concordance. The cancellation is usually related to the image on the front of the card and the stamp. The first … Continue reading Postcards #30 & #31: Australia
